2023 2 Dollars (Toonie) Commemorative "National Indigenous Peoples Day" (Color)
BU (MS-66) GEM +
Description of the room
This 2023 Canadian $2 (Toonie) coin is the coloured version of the commemorative issue honouring National Indigenous Peoples Day . The reverse design, a unique artistic collaboration, was created by three artists: Megan Currie , Myrna Pokiak , and Jennine Krauchi . The selective colouring on the coin's core visually highlights First Nations, Inuit, and Métis cultural symbols.
The coin is certified MS-66 (Mint State 66) , which places it in the "GEM+" category (Jewel and above). This grade indicates exceptional collector quality , superior to the standard Gem grade (MS-65). The specimen is very well preserved, displaying only very slight contact marks or minute minting flaws that do not detract from its excellent visual appeal. The mint luster is bright and complete , and the color application is considered very good .
The obverse features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt, with the double commemorative year of her reign ("1952-2022").
