2023 2 Dollars (Toonie) Commemorative "National Indigenous Peoples Day"
BU (MS-65) GEM
Description of the room
This 2023 Canadian $2 (Toonie) coin is the commemorative issue honoring National Indigenous Peoples Day . The reverse design is the result of a unique artistic collaboration between three designers: Megan Currie (English River First Nation), Myrna Pokiak (Inuvialuit), and Jennine Krauchi (Métis). The design merges powerful symbols from their three cultures.
The coin is certified MS-65 (Mint State 65) , which represents the threshold for top-quality uncirculated ( Gem Uncirculated ). It is a high-quality specimen with a full and attractive mint luster . A coin of this grade may exhibit a small number of minor contact marks or slight minting flaws (typical of coins struck at high speed for circulation), but these imperfections are undistracting and do not detract from the overall visual appeal.
The obverse features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt, with the double commemorative year of her reign ("1952-2022").
