2009 Canada 25 Cents - Sledge Hockey
Vancouver Series 2010 — MS-64 Quality (Choice +)
Description of the room
This 25-cent coin pays tribute to sledge hockey (para ice hockey), a sport that captivated audiences at the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games. It celebrates not only athletics, but also inclusion and determination.
The Reverse Pattern
The design, created by artist Glenn Green, depicts a sledge hockey player in motion, ready to shoot. The specialized equipment, including the sledge and the spiked sticks, is clearly visible. In the background, a stylized maple leaf surrounds the official logo of the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Games.
The Obverse
The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Susanna Blunt.1 At this grade level, the triple-plated steel finish is impeccable, providing a smooth, glossy surface that highlights the royal profile.
