2008 Canada 25 Cents - Snowboarding
Vancouver Series 2010 — MS-66 Quality (Gem +)
Description of the room
This 25-cent coin celebrates the energy and innovative spirit of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Snowboarding is immortalized here in Gem+ condition. At this grade, the coin is distinguished by a near-total absence of major contact marks, which is remarkable for a coin minted for circulation in over 22 million copies.
The Reverse Pattern
The design, created by artist Glenn Green, depicts a snowboarder mid-air during an acrobatic jump. The dynamic composition uses lines of movement that emphasize speed and agility. In the background, a stylized maple leaf and the Games logo (Ilanaaq) complete the design. Printed in MS-66 grade, the precision of the details of the athlete and their board is exceptionally sharp.
The Obverse
The obverse features a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt. The triple-plated steel finish is brilliant, offering a uniform luster that beautifully highlights the royal profile.
Quality and Grade MS-66 (Gem +)
The MS-66 grade designates a part of superior quality:
-
Lustre: A striking, intense, and satin-finish chandelier.
-
Surface: The surfaces are very clean. The few contact marks present are microscopic and do not detract from the overall aesthetics.
-
Strike: A clean and well-defined execution across the entire pattern.
-
Visual appeal: The "+" designation indicates an above-average visual appeal (Eye Appeal) for this grade, making this example a choice piece for a set in the Vancouver 2010 series.
