Description of the room
This commemorative coin celebrates figure skating, an iconic discipline of the Winter Olympic Games. Due to its near-perfect grade, this example is extremely rare, as most 25-cent coins in this series have bag or production marks that prevent them from achieving such a high grade.
The Reverse Pattern
The design, created by artist Glenn Green, depicts a figure skater in an elegant, athletic pose. A stylized maple leaf forms the background, incorporating the official Vancouver 2010 logo (the Ilanaaq). The design captures the fluidity of movement on the ice. In this MS-69 grade, the engraved lines are absolutely crisp, without any signs of wear or rubbing.
The Obverse
The obverse features the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt. On a coin certified "Near Perfect", the finish of the portrait is impeccable and the surrounding fields are completely free of contact marks visible to the naked eye, preserving the original luster of the Mint as on the first day of striking.
Quality and Grade MS-69 (Near Perfect)
The MS-69 grade is one of the highest possible on the 70-point scale. It qualifies a part as being virtually perfect:
