Description of the room

This 25-cent commemorative coin was issued on September 26, 2007, by the Royal Canadian Mint. It is the third in a series of 17 circulation coins celebrating the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. It pays tribute to curling, an iconic Canadian sport often called "ice pétanque." Up to 22 million of these coins were put into circulation. The example offered here, graded MS-63 Choice , is in remarkable condition with superior visual appeal.

The Obverse (Effect of Queen Elizabeth II)

The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Canadian artist Susanna Blunt . In keeping with coins of this period, the obverse is adorned with the maple leaf 🍁 at the bottom, a distinctive mark used since 2007. The legend "CANADA · ELIZABETH II 2007" surrounds the royal bust. For an MS-63 Choice grade , the mint luster is well-developed, intense, and uniform across almost the entire surface, with a pleasing "cartwheel" effect. Contact marks are minimal and barely visible to the naked eye.

The Reverse (Curler)

The reverse, designed by artist Glen Green (whose initials "GG" appear on the coin), illustrates the precision and strategy of curling. It depicts a curler in action , throwing a stone while accompanied by a teammate with a broom. A stylized maple leaf completes the design. The design is inscribed with " Vancouver 2010 " and the value "25 cents." In MS-63 Choice , all the details of the athletes, the curling stone, and the maple leaf are perfectly crisp and well-struck, without any wear.
