2002 Canada: 25 Cents Canada Day

BU (Brilliant Out of Circulation) Quality — Grade: MS-63 CHOICE

Description of the room

Issued to celebrate Canada Day in 2002, this commemorative coin illustrates national pride through a dynamic reverse design. While the Golden Jubilee coin of the same year featured the historical effigy of Machin, this issue retains the contemporary effigy of the Queen. Classified MS-63 Choice , this coin was selected for its superior luster and significantly cleaner surfaces than the average circulation strike.

The Obverse (Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II - Dora de Pédery-Hunt)

The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by the artist Dora de Pédery-Hunt . The date "2002" and the mint mark "P" (indicating plated steel) are located to the left of the royal bust. In Choice quality, the luster is bright and circulates in a circular pattern across the entire surface.

The Reverse (Design Canada Day)

The reverse, designed by Judith Chartier, depicts a group of people celebrating with a Canadian flag against a backdrop of a giant maple leaf. In MS-63 grade, the details of the faces and the lines of the flag are exceptionally sharp. The glossy finish accentuates the movement and energy of the design.
