2001 Canada: 25 Cents Caribou (Without P)
BU (Brilliant Out of Circulation) Quality — Grade: MS-64
Description of the room
This 2001 example is the pure nickel version, identifiable by the absence of the "P" mark beneath the Queen's effigy. As the Royal Canadian Mint began its transition to plated steel that year, unmarked nickel coins became the last representatives of a long metallic tradition. In MS-64 grade, this coin exhibits remarkable preservation: it possesses an intense original luster and very clean surfaces, well above the average quality found in period rolls.
The Obverse (Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II)
The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Dora de Pédery-Hunt. The absence of a mint mark below the bust confirms its nickel composition. In MS-64 quality, the fields are bright and the royal profile shows virtually no visible contact marks, retaining its original satin finish.
The Reverse
Emanuel Hahn's iconic Caribou motif is rendered with exquisite detail. The rotating luster ("cartwheel") is particularly prominent on this piece. The antler details and the texture of the fur are crisp and free of any wear, offering a visual appeal worthy of the finest collections.
