BU (Brilliant Out of Circulation) Quality — Grade: MS-63 CHOICE

Description of the room

The May 1999 coin is part of the historic Millennium series, where each month of the year featured a unique design chosen from thousands of submissions by Canadian citizens. Entitled "Our Boreal Heritage," this month's design celebrates the rich flora and fauna of Canada's boreal forests. This Choice BU example has been carefully preserved, displaying full mint luster and crisp detail, typical of a coin selected for its visual appeal.

The Obverse (Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II)

The obverse features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Dora de Pédery-Hunt. The field is bright and uniform, with perfectly defined legends.

The Reverse (May: Our Boreal Heritage)

The design, by Nicole Burton, depicts a loon on the water, a pine branch, and a polar bear, symbolizing the country's natural diversity. The words "CANADA" and "MAY / MAI 1999" are engraved on either side of the design. Printed in MS-63 grade, the textures of the loon's feathers and the bear's fur are perfectly preserved.
