UNC (Non Circulé / Uncirculated)

Description of the room

This 1975 Canadian 25-cent coin is guaranteed to be in Uncirculated (UNC) condition. It has never been in circulation and therefore shows no signs of wear on the high reliefs, particularly on the caribou antlers and the portrait of the Queen. It retains all of its original mint luster.

The coin features the classic Caribou motif on the reverse, designed by Emanuel Hahn. It is made of pure nickel (99.9% nickel).

UNC quality (Brilliant, non-circulating)

The designation UNC (or BU) for an ungraded part encompasses the range of qualities from MS-60 to MS-70 .

  • Wear: The main criterion is the total absence of wear due to traffic.

  • Chandelier: The room has the original chandelier and may display a bright shine.

  • Imperfections: A generic UNC coin may exhibit a variable number of contact marks , handling scratches, and minor defects caused by contact with other coins during bulk packing at the Mint. The severity of these defects determines whether the coin would be graded MS-60 (numerous marks) or MS-64 and above (very few marks).

The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II .
