2024 2 Dollars (Toonie) Commemorative "100th Anniversary of the ARC/RCAF"
BU color (All Mint State: MS-60 to MS-70)
Description of the room
This 2024 Canadian $2 (Toonie) coin is a commemorative issue celebrating the 100th anniversary (1924-2024) of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) . The coin is presented in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition, which encompasses all collector grades from MS-60 to MS-70 on the Sheldon scale.
The version described is the Colour circulation variant (selectively coloured). The reverse design, created by Bernard G. Allum, features a range of aircraft in the centre of the disc (Spitfire, CF-18 Hornet, F-35 Lightning II). This area is enhanced by an application of black, blue and green ink symbolizing sky and earth, highlighting the aircraft.
BU (Brilliant Out of Circulation) / Mint State (MS) quality
All coins classified as "Mint State" (MS) have never been in circulation and retain their original mint luster. The quality of "Color" coins is particularly sensitive to handling:
-
MS-60 to MS-64 (Uncirculated to Choice Uncirculated): Possess the original luster with light to moderate contact marks . The colored ink is intact.
-
MS-65 to MS-66 (Gem Uncirculated): Superior quality. Near-perfect luster, strong impact, and only minimal marks . Color application is crisp and uniform.
-
MS-67 to MS-69 (Superb Gem / Near Perfect): Exceptional quality, with a full strike and flawless luster. They exhibit only near-microscopic imperfections . The color application is perfect.
-
MS-70 (Perfect Uncirculated): The piece is absolutely perfect , with no visible defects on the metal or the color layer, even under high magnification.
The obverse features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III .
