BU (Brilliant Out of Circulation) Quality — Grade: MS-63 CHOICE

Description of the room

This commemorative 25-cent coin was issued in 2006 by the Royal Canadian Mint in collaboration with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. It is the second coloured circulation coin in the world , following the famous poppy of 2004. It features the universal symbol of hope in the fight against breast cancer: the pink ribbon , in a design created by the Mint's chief engraver, Cosme Saffioti. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this coin was donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation for research and support programs. With a mintage of 29,798,000 , this coin with its powerful message is now highly sought after by collectors. The example offered here, graded MS-63 Choice , is in remarkable condition with superior visual appeal.

The Obverse (Effect of Queen Elizabeth II)

The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Canadian artist Susanna Blunt , an effigy used on Canadian coins from 2003 to 2023. The Queen is depicted without a crown, in a clean and contemporary style. The legend "ELIZABETH II 2006 D • G • REGINA" surrounds the royal bust, along with the artist's initials "SB" and the mint mark "P" (for plated steel). For an MS-63 Choice grade , the mint luster is excellent, intense, and uniform across almost the entire surface, with a beautiful "cartwheel" effect. Contact marks are minimal and barely visible to the naked eye.

The Reverse (Pink colored ribbon)

The reverse, designed by Cosme Saffioti , features a vibrant pink ribbon , a symbol of breast cancer awareness, surrounded by a repetition of the denomination "25 CENTS" and the word "CANADA." The technique developed by the Royal Canadian Mint ensures full color adhesion to the metal and long-lasting wear resistance. For an MS-63 Choice grade coin , the pink ribbon's color is perfectly preserved, without flaking, and the recessed details are remarkably sharp. The "Choice" quality translates into a harmonious balance between luster, color preservation, and overall visual impact.
