Description of the room

This 2005 25-cent coin is part of the renowned Provinces and Territories 25-cent series , launched by the Royal Canadian Mint in 1999 to highlight the history and culture of each Canadian province and territory. The Saskatchewan coin, issued in 2005, celebrates the agricultural identity and landscapes of this Prairie province. The example offered here, graded MS-64 Choice+ , is in exceptional condition with remarkable visual appeal.

The Obverse (Effect of Queen Elizabeth II)

The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Canadian artist Susanna Blunt , an effigy used on Canadian coins from 2003 to 2023. The Queen is depicted without a crown, in a clean and contemporary style. The legend “ELIZABETH II D • G • REGINA” surrounds the royal bust, with the date “2005” and the mint mark “P” (for plated steel) located below the effigy. For an MS-64 Choice+ grade , the mint luster is brilliant, intense, and perfectly uniform across the entire surface, with a superb “cartwheel” effect. Contact marks are virtually absent to the naked eye; only microscopic imperfections can be detected under magnification, and nothing distracts from the overall aesthetic.

The Reverse (Prairie Farm)

The reverse, designed by artist Paulette Sapergia , illustrates the deep-rooted identity of Saskatchewan, often called the "Plains Province" or "Breadbasket of Canada." It depicts a typical Prairie farm with a grain elevator, stylized ears of wheat, and the vast sky characteristic of the region. This design evokes the importance of agriculture and grain farming to this province. In MS-64 Choice+ , all the details of the farm, the wheat, and the landscape are perfectly sharp, with a full-rim strike. The "Choice+" quality designation indicates a coin that surpasses the average MS-64 in harmonious balance and superior presentation.
