BU (Brilliant Out of Circulation) Quality — Grade: MS-63 CHOICE
Description of the room
This 2005 25-cent coin is part of the renowned Provinces and Territories 25-cent series , launched by the Royal Canadian Mint in 1999 to highlight the history and culture of each Canadian province and territory. The Alberta coin, issued in 2005, showcases the spectacular landscapes and natural beauty of this western Canadian province. The example offered here, graded MS-63 Choice , is in outstanding condition with superior visual appeal.
The Obverse (Effect of Queen Elizabeth II)
The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Canadian artist Susanna Blunt , an effigy used on Canadian coins from 2003 to 2023. The Queen is depicted without a crown, in a clean and contemporary style. The legend "ELIZABETH II D • G • REGINA" surrounds the royal bust, with the date "2005" and the mint mark "P" (for plated steel) located below the effigy. For an MS-63 Choice grade , the mint luster is excellent, intense, and uniform across almost the entire surface, with a beautiful "cartwheel" effect. Contact marks are minimal and barely visible to the naked eye.
The Reverse (Alberta Landscapes)
The reverse, designed by artist Michelle Grant , illustrates the natural beauty of Alberta through a typical provincial landscape. It features rolling hills , wind- bent pines , and the Rocky Mountains in the background. This design evokes the vast open spaces and natural abundance of Alberta. In MS-63 Choice , all the details of the landscape—trees, mountains, and terrain—are perfectly sharp and well-struck, without any wear. The "Choice" quality translates into a harmonious balance between luster, surface preservation, and overall visual impact.
