BU (MS-62) CHOICE LOW END

Description of the room

This 1992 Canadian $1 (Loonie) coin commemorates the 125th anniversary of Canadian Confederation . The coin features a view of the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa on its reverse and is graded MS-62 (Mint State 62) , which represents a Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) grade of medium to low quality.

The part is made of pure nickel (99.9% nickel), its large size and smooth surface making it very susceptible to accumulating contact marks in the rollers.

MS-62 (Mint State 62) quality

  • Condition: Uncirculated item whose appearance has been affected by the production and packaging process.

  • Luster: The striking luster is present but often irregular or incomplete.

  • Strike: The strike is generally crisp , but some fine details, particularly the architecture of buildings, may lack sharpness or full definition.

  • Imperfections: One MS-62 coin exhibits a significant and highly visible number of contact marks or light scratches on the fields and design, resulting from bulk handling at the Mint. These defects are evident to the naked eye and may detract from the visual appeal.

  • Tone: The piece may show slight tarnishing or slight oxidation.

The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II .
