Description: 1971 50 cents BU (MS-66) GEM

This 1971 Canadian 50-cent coin, graded BU (MS-66) GEM , is an exceptional specimen representing the pinnacle of preservation. Struck in pure nickel, it features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II on its obverse, designed by Arnold Machin, and the coat of arms of Canada on its reverse.

The MS-66 (Mint State) grade indicates an uncirculated coin with a full mint luster and no signs of wear. The designation "GEM" signifies above-average striking quality and a near-perfect field. The field may have a few minor marks, but the coin retains excellent definition. This grade is particularly difficult to achieve for nickel 50-cent coins of this period, as they were often poorly struck or bore mint marks. It is therefore a highly sought-after collector's item.
