BU (MS-60) LOW GRADE

Description of the room

This 1965 Canadian 5-cent coin is graded MS-60 (Mint State 60) , which represents the basic grade of a Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) coin. An MS-60 coin is technically uncirculated , but it is considered the lowest uncirculated condition, often called "Uncirculated Basic" .

  • Condition (Grade): MS-60 (Mint State 60).

  • Condition: BU (Brilliant Out of Circulation) , guaranteed free from traffic wear (no rubbing marks in high spots).

The 1965 5 cent coin is made of pure nickel (99.9%). The reverse design is the classic Beaver , designed by GE Kruger-Gray.

Detailed MS-60 Quality

  • Luster: The striking luster is weak, interrupted, or absent in certain areas. It may be dull and uneven.

  • Strike: The strike may be very weak or incomplete in many areas, not showing clear details.

  • Imperfections: An MS-60 coin exhibits numerous severe contact marks, scratches, or prominent and distracting bag marks on the fields. These defects are highly visible to the naked eye. The only distinguishing characteristic from a circulating coin is the complete absence of rubbing or wear on the highest points.

  • Visual Appeal: The appearance is generally mediocre, often unaesthetic due to the large number of defects.

The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II (young version).
